at the Evergreen Aviation Museum in McMinnville, OR (which is the new home of the Spruce Goose), for an extra three bucks you can climb inside their B-17 -- and talk to a guy that was a Fortress pilot in WWII. wow, it's a lot smaller on the inside than the outside. surprising that it carried a crew of nine. never fails to give me goosebumps though.

![]() I had the oppurtunity to fly in Fuddy Duddy during a tour stop our EAA chapter hosted last summer. On its way out to the next tourstop we were able to fly with the crew from Kalamazoo, MI to Valaparsio, In., a 45 minute flight.
Another piece of B-17 info. The total crew (10) weight is 1200 lbs. max. I think you would find it hard to get 10 guys (maybe gals) that weigh 120 lbs. more or less today. |
