Default N200LZ

Well ........ I think I can start my build this week (Long-EZ 1668.)
My BID showed up this AM.
I finished my cutting table and fabric cabinet yesterday (I still have to lay my formica laminate on it.) Wished I would have made it about 2-3 inches wider to make it easier to load my fabric on the closet poles.

I finished my construction table a couple weeks ago. 3 x 11.5 with a formica top & casters. It's nice to be able to move it around some without requiring another body.

I'm waiting for my Vacuum switch to show up (was missing from my shipment) but I'm just about good to go.

I'm planning on starting with Chapter 4 as a warm-up then jump to the wings.
Both my boys are showing interest in the project ( as Borat would say "My wife....not so much ) They are 17 and 24. Makes for a great "Male-Bonding" moment.

Phil & Craig ...... watch out! I'm going to try and catch up with you guys!
John Slade ............ I'm following your rotary experience very closely. That's my power plant of choice.

Dust.....I'm not going to be as radical on my blended stab but a toned down version of the same.

I'll have a new web-site up in a week or so to track my progress (and document my work.)

I just want to say that having the resources of this forum is really a comfort when it comes to a project like this.

Congratulations on the beginning!

Might I suggest that it would be better to get the experience building the tub before jumping to the more critical wings section.

Good suggestion.
I was thinking Bulkhead, Winglet, Wing but I don't see where doing the Fuse would be anything but beneficial.

Another good reason for leaving the wings / winglets / spar and canard last is that you can order them from Dennis Oelsen if you come into money toward the end of the build.

My spar is going to be a little different because it will be built to accomodate the Infinity retracts.

GREAT you gonna regret the formica - you screw to the top as part of the build

Why you want to mess with the wings before thier time? Lotta learnin happens during the 4,5,6,7,8,9 chapters

better order them now for a 2017 completion date

Yeah.....I know about the Infinity Gear timeline.
I have the prelim delivery already (pump, blow down, plans, DVD, popcorn etc.)

I'll keep you posted as to the delivery timeline (and be hoping for the best.)
I had asked Waiter via eMail how it worked out for him but he bought his from another builder who had already received them.

Mike...I'll be vacuum bagging everything that I can so I want a good smooth surface to seal against.
My setup allows for me to clamp another surface for the rough stuff.
Bottom line is ....... I had to formica the surface otherwise it would have been harder to sell my wife on the whole buffet table story.

its just a big pad.....7x12 or so and about 25 bid thick.
but you need the gear to install it, but if you start asking for it now you'll have it in time for the lower strake cover.......2015

You do not need the gear to install the spar with JD's required mod's. You may even install the gear after the wings and strakes are installed. The gear could in fact be the very last thing you install... However I can't imagine anyone would want to trolley it around the hangar for the entire build.

You can get by without the gear for a long time.

Built the fuselage, canard, Canopy, centerspar, then the wings.

Mate the wings to the centerspar.

Mate the centerspar/wing assembly to the fuselage.

You absolutely got to have the gear before you start the strakes.

Actually, once you install the gear - the best thing to do is take em off and put em in the attic till later

plane is high, wobbly and the gear are in the way

Thanks for the assembly order advice. I'm going to start with chapter 4 due to the parts being fairly small. It was suggested to start with the winglets for the same reason but I figure the bulkheads might be better.

I'm a long ways away from putting gear on but you're on the top of my list for knowledge in this area.
