Lynn, I had a 350 in a 78 Firebird with no computer controls Automatic tranny, dual exhaust with H-pipe.Edelbrock intake and stock Rochester carb that got 28mpg, all day long. My boss now has a 94 Corvette that gets 28-30.highway. Yes I know that they have been using the 230 thermos for 20 years but most people do not.

Marc you are correct regarding the cc/HP ratio. My mistake.

Wellllll - best fuel economy does not go well with least pollution. you want air to breath - or - better fuel economy?

Not sure what pollutant you are talking about but you may be correct for NOx but not for CO or unburned hydrocarbons.

Doesn't matter which - if one has to be removed and it requires more fuel to do it then - it requires more fuel to do it. Thats what using a stoichiometric sensor is all about - 14.7 = lean of best power, rich of best economy and best emissions
