Default understanding AN/MS hardware

well, the AN bolts we use are plated with crap - use em once and the coating is gone. Just found out that is by design

the plating is made to be a sacrificial rusting layer - if corrosion is going to happen - it will happen there instead of where the bolt is attached to or to the bolt.

check them often and replace when any corrosion is present - also - i would determine what is causing the corrosion and fix it.

i love understanding the materials we use

wood expands and contracts with moisture
SS expands allot with heat - slip joints not welds on exhaust
aluminum corrodes without protection
cadmium is a sacrificial coating
wood hold moisture and bolts that are in it will corrode
Aluminum is a heat sink, not a heat shield
