Default using alodine

Well, in the past when parts were alodined, they were put in a cup with alum prep first, sloshed around, rinse and then put in a cup with alodine and sloshed around. The finish was serviceable, but UGLY.

Now i scotch bright just before treating, then i rinse in water, dangle for a timed 2 minutes in alum prep on a wire hook, rinse and then dangle or tumble on the big intake runners that i did not have enough alodine to cover for a timed 2 minutes.

The finish, not perfect, but WAY better than before, more than acceptable. All pieces are similar except one i forgot to set the timer on, wife did it and by the time she did it, i had guessed wrong and that intake is quite a bit darker, but still just fine.

My A&P was even impressed with the quality of the finish!

went to the store and bought resealable wide mouth containers for both products, no need to pitch the stuff after use as they are good for hundreds of square feet, storing them in the basement to stop them from freezing

Default Re: using alodine

Great fun tonight - buddy stopped by the hanger and saw the ALODINED part - he was sure it was anodized!
