mmmm - maybe put the switch for pitot heat next to the gear and the belly board also.
What is the stuff the space shuttle tiles are made of?

I do not know if this stuff could be made, shaped and incorporated into your designs. I'm not a builder so I do not know if it would work. Just a crazy idea don't shoot

Toughened unipiece fibrous insulation (TUFI) tiles. A stronger, tougher tile which came into use in 1996. Used in high and low temperature areas.
would be nice to get ahold of this to make an insulating collar!

Idea... Get ceramic, wrap the pitot tube in several layers of bid soaked in plaster or even grout material until it's about 1/4 - 1/2" thick. Let dry hard then wrap with epoxy wetted bid and install. Should be enough outside insulation to keep the heat away from the epoxy. James Redmond used phenolic to wrap his.

Just got the G10 - heavy dense stuff 3.25x3x1.75 and UHMW plastic or whatever it is called - found a great local plastic co, came from the scrap bin and put money in the tip bid, now off to the tool store for belt and disks for the darn aluminum
