Felramic 2000 is a composite ceramic, metal material, bendable, about 1/16 (1.5mm for Metric guys) thick, aluminized on one side. Good for extreme IR and conductive protection up to about 1200F. About 4 times heavier than the CoolMat.
Also Fel-Pro makes some lighter weight firesleeve type protection at: http://store.yahoo.com/hm-performance/felprosypr.html
For the extreme stuff, you can get ceramic batting with stainless steel foil on both sides but it's hard to shape to curved or compound surfaces, good to 1800F. Awesome IR and conductive protection.
Standard .016 SS sheet worked well for small areas if you can attach it and afford the weight.
great stuff - thanks and anyone with other products?
