Default Unexpected Downtime

I have to apologize for the downtime today on the forum.

There are a number of large-scale upgrades to the phone and data lines
happening in the area and the entire area has been out most of the day.

Right now everything is up on a backup line link, but I'm still waiting on an ETA from the phone company for the main line.

Thanks for your patience,

/dan

Thanks for hosting. I am just glad it wasn't on my end. I usually log in from the patrol car and even though the technology is amazing, it is not perfect.

All the best,

Chris

We used to be able to get internet on our laptops when we first got them,,,,,then some idiots decided to check out porn and online gambling,,,,that was the end of that in VERY short order!

Yeah, I really hope we all know better. We are told our usage can be monitored, but I really think/hope our average officer has better sense anyway.....of course it only takes one, OR some bonehead reporter making it somthing it is not. Even though I read this forum while on patrol, it is also an invaluable tool. It helps keep my head in the game. Kinda like an airline pilot, police work can have periods of extreme bordom...you can only focus on "no crime happening RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME" for so long. Little can be done about "routine" and access to the net is a great aid to help remain alert. IMHO. GAWD knows we are not busy counting all the money we make as cops

All the best,

Chris

Cool! I suspected as much. The forum just needed a coffee break.

Thanks for all you do.

Default Forum schenanigans?

Everybody must be busy due to the slowdown of posting. I had trouble the last two days of getting past the Homepage and into the forum. Which I thought might be MY problem and then I realized there wernt many posts during these days. Have we got a tapeworm that is eating posts, a virus from some Hawaiian spam recipe that was listed in our wiki or some other more mundane reason? Maybe its a Canardian conspiracy because ez squaron got hacked at the same time... Oh well, Cheers all.

As a young guy, I worked in a factory that manufacured 'modular houses'. Probably 150 guys working there. It was almost always busy and noisy in there with pneumatic tools, power saws, etc. One afternoon, all the noise just stopped. Then guys started looking around at each other and wondered 'whats up?', why so quiet? It was just a coincidence that everyone was in the middle of changing tasks or scratching something. The noise resumed.

But that's not what's going on here. Everyone is on an eternal coffee break and simply ran out of jokes .
