VariEze, O-235 and propeller characteristics.
I fly a VariEze since last year, may 2005.
She fly correctly, and I like her.
But I have a question on engine static RPM.
Static RPM from my O-235 C2 is 2100. I never got more on ground.
While running 2200 rpm,
Take off and climbing => 2300 rpm.
Take off distance : 1500' (500 m). To be verified....
Climbing at 87 kn (160 km/h), vertical speed : 1300ft/mn.
I have no level flight figures at full throttle , as I never use it, because until now I never retract the nose gear ( ) ...... I plan, to retract it in early june, and get new data at this time.
Nose gear down : 135 kn (250 km/h), 2300 rpm; throttle : 1/4 to 1/3 .
Short canard 142"
Empty weight : 782 lb.
Take off : 1107 lb, (pilote 240 lb (108kg) + 15 galons
CG at 98" (251 cm)
Propeller data :
EVRA => 63" x 65" x 53"
Original metric data in cm :
.......=> 160 x 165 x 134.
I don't know the meaning of tne 3th number : 53" / 134cm. Is that the diameter where the pitch is given ?
Anyway, it is something to be changed there.
From your experiences and opinions what are the possibilities to modiry the propeller ?
Reducing diameter ?
Or to modify baldes surfaces, profil or pitch ? (From provider EVRA)
