Lynn Erickson A&P for lets say almost 30 years
Much better with a Dremel than a computer.
What if they gave me choice between a fast computer or a fast plane?

Thats ERacer/Berkut gear.

I maufactured all the gear parts. they are a redesign of the E racer/Berkut gear. the nose gear is a redesign of the long eze cast gear machined out of billet aluminum

In the fourth picture from the left, what is the function of the cylinder mounted atop the gear leg?

The cylinder is a constant force gas spring to hold the overcenter link in that position in case you loose hydraulic pressure. the gear will free fall to the down and locked position by releasing the hydraulic pressure that is holding the gear in the up position. there is no gear up lock. During normal operation the hydraulic down pressure keeps it in overcenter.
