Welcome aboard Robert!! I can't believe there hasn't been any response before me, since this is quite a friendly and supportive group. Since you've been lurking for some time, you might have noticed that already.

Come out to Rough River and hang out for the weekend.

BTW, where in New Mexico are you located? There are active builders in that state and I gots in-law dair two!

Welcome to the club. You have a long jurney ahead and lots of people are ready to help with their experience and advice. But that's all
The rest of it is up to you. Wish you lots of stamina and staying power. Stay focused and spend less time on the computer and keep building. One day you'll make it. BS-ing on the computer is for people that have finished

Default Welcome!!

Robertf15E,

Welcome! Getting started IS the hard part.

Going with 335 won't help, it uses the same slow hardner that's causing the problem. I love my 285!!!!!!!!! had to use EZ poxy today for the first time. Going to use it on the wings and strakes. I ran out of MGS a month ago and got caught up in this fiasco. So I got EZ poxy instead. Works great while it is still warm from the hot box. BUT when it cools, it became a nightmare compared to MGS. I never worried about excess epoxy in the layups, it just went on. Today as the epoxy cooled it thickened and was like trying to get thick molassas to wet out the glass. Had to break out the hair dryer for the first time in a year. It died half way thru and I had to get my wife's...I mean, MY other hair dryer. Then I was stippling and stippling, ETC. Rarely ever did it with MGS. Did I say I really LOVE my MGS.

f15e Does that mean what I think? And you want to join the 200 mph club?

Bob
Hope the wife doesn't notice.

Welcome,

I am in Albuquerque, let me know if you need any help.

I have been so busy with work and family stuff here as of late that I have not touched my project in about 2 months. This really sucks, but its good to be loaded with work too. I thought I had some free time coming up, but a friend said he was taking me to Cazumel, Mexico scuba diving the first part of October. And my wife is actualy going to let me go. And then its off for another week of motorcycle trail riding in Moab, Utah. Never been there either. I should be about done with the goofing off for a while after that.

I have a landing brake to finish, actuator in a box, canard and elevator cores from featherlite in a box, rolls of BID and UNI, and 8 gal. of resin and 16 qts of slow 285 epoxy just waiting for me. One call to the Cozy Girrrls for ch. 10-12 stuff and I should be busy for another year or so.

I really can't wait for Jan/Feb to roll around. Thats when work slows down and I get a lot of building done.

Kraig

Thanks for all the support I will defiantly use it. I work in Albuquerque and live on Sedillo Hill (about 15 miles east of Albuquerque). Kraig one of these days I would like to get together and look at your project there is nothing like seeing it for real.

Does anyone know if any Cozy's are flying into the Land of Enchantment Fly in at Moriarty (0E0) on Sep 9th and 10th??

I only bought 2 gallons of the 335 I will try it and see how I like it.

F15 does mean that but that was a number of years ago and now my Cherokee is just not fast enough.

Yea, Lloyd Gimple told me he'd be there. He's based at Double Eagle.
