Question Continentals on auto fuel (mogas)

Does anyone out there run their O-200 on auto gas? Is there any special mods needed to safely do this? How do the VarieZe / Long EZ fuel systems hold up? Thanks!

I think the problem is the lack of enough fuel preservants since they don't put that in regular auto gas. That may damage your fuel lines. Also some timing adjustment needs to be done for the lower octane rate. If you use the plane regularly and add some additives like octane boosters, shouldn't affect too much the performance. You have to be careful where you buy the gas since gas stations sometimes have crack in their underground tanks and may cointain water or some rare substances that will cause the engine to quit.

Valve guides and stuck valves - that is what my continental buddy says he saw allot of when conti's were run on mogas

Interesting, I have just the opposite problem! When I run 100LL, I will occationally stick a valve (twice a year), and foul plugs.

With Car Gas, I have neither of these (Of course, I have no money either)

I might also be a little reluctant to fly at high altitudes. Mogas has lots of lighter components that might gas off above 12K-15Kft.

I did a lot of research into the pros and cons of Mogas a few weeks ago thanks to the arrival of, er, a small storm in the Southern States...try looking at
